I have been the principal at Mattern's Video Productions, Inc. (MVP) for more than 27 years and involved in forensic video since 1991. MVP is capable of rendering nearly all unintelligible surveillance video or audio recordings as useful evidence. MVP has recreated incidents and crime scenes for trial and settlements. Additionally, MVP, has shot documentaries of walk and/or drive throughs, a day-in-the life, fire and accident scene damage and more.

As a Forensic Video Analyst, I employ the latest state of the art equipment. MVP's forensic arsenal include a multi-format AVID Meridian Express media processor, along with specialized forensic implements such as the dTective family *, DPlex Pro *, DVR dCoder *, Cleaner, Photoshop **, After Effects **, Illustrator **, Audio Suite *** and more. These tools allow me to demultiplex video (segregate cameras), enhance, magnify, spotlight, freeze, stabilize, alter playback speed (slow or accelerated motion) or to print still pictures from any given frame, whether originating from video tape, DVD or DVR. Other capabilities include audio enhancement, by noise reduction, equalization, pitch correction, word by word level (volume) adjustments to enable all audio to be heard equally from the softest to the loudest. . Additionally, MVP also has an IMix Cube which is utilized as a second multimedia processor.

Forensic clients include:**** Los Angeles County Public Defenders, Federal Public Defenders, Riverside County Superior Court, Pinal County Public Defender (Arizona). Also several law firms and private investigators.

Corporate clients: Target Corporation, Johnson & Johnson Health Care Products, The City of Duarte, The Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Montgomery Engineers, Serenity, Brighton, Baxter Hyland, Perot Systems Corporation, RTD, Whittaker Controls, Inc., Zacky Farms, Orbital Science Corporation, Ortel Corporation, Kaiser Permanente, Shredders, etc.

In addition to my managerial duties at MVP, I take projects from concept to completion (script writing, budget, talent search, equipment selection and checkout, location scouting, props, lighting, shooting, audio and video recording, directing, editing and duplication. I also function as a creative consultant.

I have enjoyed over twenty years as an electronic engineer and manager. Much time was spent in the area of research and development along with reliability engineering where I methodically predicted and performing failure modes and mechanisms analysis, also encompassing human factors engineering.

For nearly thirteen years, I had served the City of Rosemead as: Aesthetic Advisor to CalTrans, Traffic Commissioner and Planning Commissioner.
